      Hi

I have a RPI3 and tried to install kodi via retropie and it crashed while installing.

I reformat the SD card and start from scratch and crash again in kodi install, I can't install kodi

Any idea whats going on? WIFI is good, i'am able to install other update, was able to install PS3 controller driver, transfer games via SAMBA, so i't not the wifi, first time it crashed while trying to install and was saying fatal error and was stuck in command prompt, had to reboot and after that was not able to install anymore, was getting can't install KODI
, second time, i had to reformat the sd card and put back the image again, got only error message while installing kodi and stuck in command prompt.

I'am trying to install it from optional package option. It's suppose to be from there right?

Hi, I read it, but my first question before going further is: Am I doing it correctly
Am I supposed to install it from option package or i'am wrong?

I will not ask any other question, i will just not install it if it'S not working.

I will wait another retropie release or wait other post with the same problem.

            Thanks

@ravingzeus Yes, you just need to install it from the optional packages. It is confirmed to be working. So you need to provide more info about your setup. From what you said, my guess is that is a hardware problem like the sdcard.

After you install Kodi, and the error appear, put the retropie log, available at /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/logs/ in pastebin, and post the link here.

For unknow reason the file was empty, I had other log file and they were not empty

I ended up trying a 3rd SD card and it was working fine. Glad to have a bunch of them, first time I get this kind of problem with a SD card, they always worked great before in all my others RPI.

I will do a full format overwrite erase with SDFormatter on the 2 other SD card and I will try again with them just for fun to see if it's fix, if not, I will avoid buying this brand of sd card in the future. But maybe the big format will do the job.

this is strange, because i was able to install any package, roms, but was not able to install kodi

Thanks for your help, I will try to update the thread if full format worked.

Good news, full format overwrite erase with SDFormatter did the trick, SD card is now working fine and was able to test the kodi install with it, i didn't do the second one for now since it took forever to format, but at least it worked for that one.

                      Thanks again for your help.
