Cadillacs and Dinosaurs overlay now available in the Repo.
-
And here's Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors (Capcom).
Again great artwork for this title. -

When @meleu says to "post your paypal account info", he does not mean your username and password ;-)
-
I mean, follow the instructions here: https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/donations
;-) -
@backstander LOL! :-))

Another real Classic Arcade you got to know is Xevious.
It absolutely deserved a retropie overlay; here it is !
Based on original cabinet artwork as usual.

@UDb23 I couldn't get the new Xevious overlay working. I installed it through the script and I see all the right files. It just wouldn't load at all for me.

Thanks for the screeshots and testing!
Sorry for Xevious, there was an additional line in the cfg.
I did manual install right now and it works.
(cut off right corner is just due to quick photo of the TV I took ... image on screen is ok) -
@UDb23 Is there something I have to change in my cfg file to get it to work?
-
@HurricaneFan use the update feature of the script and install that overlay again.
-
@UDb23 Are you currently taking requests?
p.s. You work is AWESOME!
-
@Gosenbach My personal 2DO list for overlays currently has multiple games in WIP.
Which rom would like to have an overlay for? -
@UDb23 I would love it if there was one for Gladiator. One of my favorite games when I was younger. There was one at the water slide park and I would play it instead of water sliding :)
-
@Gosenbach Just found good res image of that bezel; making a retropie version shouldn't be complicated. Will work on it and let you know.
Saw a video of the game as I didn't know it; at some point you fight against a female gladiator. She looses bits of the armour during the fight ...
I seriously doubt ancient roman girls were dressed with red underware :-)) -
@UDb23 Exactly as I remember it!
Thanks dude!
-
@Gosenbach Here you go.
Some stretching to fit original bezel (4:3 to 16:9) and repositioning of the Taito logo were unavoidable.
Found interesting Trivia in Mame's History:
Gladiator was released in March 1986 in USA.
A prototype version of this game is known as "Golden Castle". This game is known in Japan as "Ougon no Shiro", and as "Great Gurianos".Guaranos and Irene appear in Allumer's "Blandia" as the selectable characters Gurianos and Irriana respectively.
And also includes explanation about the "fancy" woman's clothing:
The Japanese version ("Ohgon no Siro") and the prototype ("Golden Castle") have a nudity feature not present in Gladiator. The female warrior Irene is shown with bare breasts when defeated by removing all layers of her chest armor (In Gladiator she still wears a bikini top when defeated this way).
Another funny case of pixel censorship :-))Can't test the overlay right now on the Pi so please let me know if it works correctly.
As multiple fixes were made by the Mame team up to v. 136 it may be worth also testing how the game performs with Lr-Mame2010.
You can find this and other overlays in the rpie-ovl repository.
And if you want an easy way to install them, @meleu created a great dedicated script.
Perform these commands on your RetroPie:git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/udb23/rpie-ovl.git cd rpie-ovl bash rpie-ovl.sh
After launching
rpie-ovl.sh
script you just have to follow the instructions in the dialog boxes. Once you have therpi-ovl.sh
script, choose the Update option to get all the latest art in the repository. -
@UDb23 may I suggest a default text to use when posting overlays here in the forum?
I think many guys here do not read the previous posts, so I think this would help to popularize the use of your art.
Here is my suggestion:
You can find this and other overlays in the rpie-ovl repository. And if you want an easy way to install them, perform these commands on your RetroPie:
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/udb23/rpie-ovl.git cd rpie-ovl bash rpie-ovl.sh
After launching
rpie-ovl.sh
script you just have to follow the instructions in the dialog boxes. Once you have therpi-ovl.sh
script, choose the Update option to get all the latest art in the repository.
The markdown text to let you copy'n'paste:
**You can find this and other overlays in the [rpie-ovl repository](https://github.com/udb23/rpie-ovl).** And if you want an easy way to install them, perform these commands on your RetroPie: git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/udb23/rpie-ovl.git cd rpie-ovl bash rpie-ovl.sh After launching `rpie-ovl.sh` script you just have to follow the instructions in the dialog boxes. Once you have the `rpi-ovl.sh` script, choose the **Update** option to get all the latest art in the repository.
