        That's fantastic!
        Good to know.
What about the other 2 Futura themes? futura-20px and futura-20px-dark
Would it make sense to add those too? Or would that be overkill?

          Looking for testers.
I implemented the video feature into the Futura theme but before I can release it I need others to test it.

          Here the package: Futura-10px-video

          Thank you.

@FlyingTomahawk you shouldn't need to create a whole new theme just to integrate video support (my main hesitation is I really don't want the theme installer doubled in size just for adding one view to a theme.)

Anyways I'm happy to give it a test. There is a also a specific way it needs to be integrated so it's backwards compatible with old versions of ES without video support

No worries this is just a test package.
If the tests turn out to be OK like position of video and marquee etc..., then I'll implement the video code into the current themes (futura-10px and futura-10px-dark) on github.

I also have seen your code for backwards compatibility which I haven't used yet but is on my to do list.

Yes, please go ahead and have a look at this. Any feedback is appreciated.

This may be a dumb question, I'm still pretty new to EmulationStation, but if I download the Futura Dark theme from the link above, which folder do I put it into? I WOULD download it from ES Themes straight off the Pi, but it doesn't appear to be an option.

                UPDATE. Nevermind. Figured it out.

Fantastic theme, since I got my Pi a few weeks back i have been working tirelessly for the optimal system and this theme is by far the best in terms of look and layout, really impressed, and very pleased to see it is still being developed with video support!

However, i do notice that daphne seems to not be supported, will this change in the future or should i start working on my own files for that particular system? Not a problem if you don't want to add it of course, Im not trying to get you to do extra work, it is just i am sure that whatever my efforts look like for that system they wouldn't be as good as anything you could produce!

Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you like it.

I could add Daphne but I won't be able to do it this week. I'm very busy at work and am really exhausted when coming home. On top of that I'll have to work straight through the whole week, including weekend.

If you want you can start creating it and I could take a look later and adjust if necessary. If you want to wait is OK too, whatever is good to you.

Be careful when using the Futura video version.
That is still under development and needs still code adjustments.

Thats great news - well, not the bit about being really exhausted, that sucks, but about the Daphne! i know it is cheeky and lazy but i guess it would be better for me to wait for you to do it, i have no eye for this sort of thing and am working night-shifts myself, work always seems to get in the way of the good stuff!

I havent actually tried the furore with video yet, having gone around in circles over the years trying beta stuff i tend to wait for 'proper' releases these days, saves a lot of heartache!

cheers for your efforts, really appreciated

Love this theme and wanted to give some feedback on the beta. I tried the video beta and have issues with my other artwork interfering with the video. I have snaps, wheel art, and box art on my pi. When I scroll to a game for a second or two I see the wheel art over the box art. The box art then fades and is replaced by the video which plays. However the wheel art stays onscreen the whole time and covers the middle of the video. Thanks for your work on this theme.

Yeah, the whole marquee, image, video stuff is a pain to setup. It depends on what you use as image and what you use as marquee the results can be totally different.
In that first Futura video package I used a screenshot as image and for marquee I used boxart, wheel combo. As it was used in @mattrixk ES toolkit sample.

I personally use a screenshot as image and the game wheel as marquee. I need to figure out a way to make it compatible with multiple setups or maybe one futura.xml file for each different situation?
Next week I'll have more time to dig in a bit more.
Meanwhile, you can adjust the numbers for the marquee position in the futura.xml file.

@FlyingTomahawk the new Toolkit is being set up to use logos on the marquee instead of the mix image. Herb and I are working on an upgrade and it should hopefully be ready soon.

Feel free to use any other Daphne logo from any other theme. Just make sure it is in svg file format and rename it to system.svg.
                                Enjoy!

Sorry to be a pain, but need a little help!

I have added Vectrex and Sinclair ZX Spectrum, neither of which is currently supported in the theme - no problem, i thought, i will just add them!

The adding went fine and i have robbed a couple of system.svg from another theme to save me making my own but i am getting stuck when it comes to making the 3 images that go at the top of the screen for each system. I have the images i want, and i have the template files you provide in the theme but i cannot for the life of me work out a workflow in photoshop that will enable me to basically 'cut' my images to shape! I know i am not very bright, particularly when it comes to this stuff, but any chance you could quickly explain the relevant action in PS to get the right shape images, it would be much appreciated!

No problem. Here is what I do. Lets take the center screenshot as example.
Open the center screenshot layout psd file in photoshop.
Then open the image you want to use as center screenshot in photoshop and make sure it is set as RGB mode.
Then drag the image over to the screenshot layout.
Adjust it by to fit the layout area.
Then select on the right the screenshot layout layer and use the magic tool. Once the area is selected right click on it and choose "select inverse".
Now select the image layer and hit the delete button on the keyboard.
Then choose "save for web", save it as png24 file and name it screenshot_center.png

                                      Done!

Do the same for the left and right screenshot.

There was a typo in the change log.
It should say Game & Watch not Daphne.
                                            Fixed it.
