Hello, I have a question about the updates. There are always again minor updates, for example, currently from version 4.2 to version 4.2.1. Is it there if I go only to Update Retropie Setup Script? Or do I have to go to Update All Installed Packages? To get the complete update? I could not read it exactly. Many thanks for the answer.

@Cybermen As far as I understand it Updating the Setup Script only updates the features within RetroPie and the version of the packages / programs it points to. So if you only update the script you only get the new features within the script itself. Updating all installed packages afterwards will update Emulation Station, RetroArch, standalone emulators, Kodi... etc. This really only makes sense when you understand that RetroPie is not a "program" itself but a collection of other software, scripts, tools and optimisations all brought together under the RetroPie name. Sorry for the long-winded reply but the short answer is update the script then update all packages to ensure you have the latest versions of everything.

If you say to update all installed packages, RetroPie will update the setup script first, so that will save you a step.

@obsidianspider Ha, true, just passing on my bad habits! I always do this even though when you select update all packages it updates the script anyway. I must break that habit.

Thank you for your answers. I am only concerned if there are minor updates, as from 4.2 to 4.2.1 -> 4.2.2 whether it is enough to go to Update Retropie Setup script, or you are on Update All Installed Packages? With a big update from 4.1 to 4.2 it is already clear that you have to go to Update All Installed Packages.

@Cybermen I think you are over-thinking this. RetroPie is updated incrementally. Every few days. Sometimes twice in a day. Only a few minor changes happen between each version. Even between 4.1.x and 4.2. It is the stock image that is updated to the "new version" That was previously last done back in November 16. The new image is 4.2 but even if you install that updates have been implemented since that version of the image was done. The last update for example was 2 days ago.
