Can't Config

RaspPiZero, Hori Pokken Gamepad, RP 4, open a game, and says press A to configure, I hold A and nothing, I've tried ever button.. What am I doing wrong..

What game are you opening and what emulator are you using to open it?

I finally got it, I went into the retro arch setting and changed it and somehow now it works, but I've tried snes9x2002 and can't make my video setting to fit the screen it's only 4:3 do I have to chage something in retro arch..
