8BitDo FC30 Pro - dual analogue sticks - any good for Robotron?
-
Although happy with my iBuffalo SNES usb pad, i am looking to get the 8BitDo FC30 Pro as it has dual analogue sticks and i fancy me some robotron and smash tv action! Anyone able to confirm that this particular pad works great at controller these particular games in mame/fba?

I find the 8bitdo analog sticks 1: Have too big of a dead-zone, and 2: are really finicky outside the dead-zone.
Its been a few months since I've tried it - so maybe there's a new firmware that fixes it, but I can't recommend with my current experience.
I ended up switching to ps3 controllers for games that need analog.

Thanks very much - that is just the sort of info i needed. Will give them a miss...

@chubsta To be fair, Robotron does not use analog sticks. It uses two 8-way digital sticks, so the 8bitDO may be fine for that game and others with similar controls(SmashTV).

I was honestly really disappointed with 8bitdo despite all the recommendations they receive. I think there is a lot of nostalgia and cuteness factor when people see the controllers and it clouds their judgment.
I purchased two NES30 Pros from them and both had very sloppy d-pads that made retro gaming nearly impossible with them. The analog sticks are uber tiny and take very little pressure to go from zero to maximum. In addition, they are loosely held in the case and have a lot of wiggle to them.
After two controllers with identical issues, I can firmly recommend against 8bitdo NES30 Pro if you are buying to actually play games with it. It sure is a cute controller, though.

On another note - the NES30 is a fantastic controller (http://www.nes30.com/)
I have both the NES30 and the NES30 Pros - I love the NES30 for NES/SNES games, it's well built, and responsive - NES30 Pro on the other hand, its only reason for existence is analog, and the analog is awful, and they feel kinda "meh" in your hands so they just sit in a drawer unused - PS3 controllers work great for analog stuff which is really only on N64/PS1 games in my case.
