Ps3 Controller and Pi3 - What i did
-
Well, i'm kinda noob and learning.
But im trying to learn a lot to make this litle pi a nice gamming thing to make my free time happy. So i'll try to help out the forum as i can and learn as i can.
So, this is what i make in my instalation on pi3, this could help other users that are lost.
I hope that can help :)
Using NewPi3 - Retropie3.6 and a original PS3 Controller
- Put the image on SD Card
- Turn on and let it work
- on emulationstation config your keyboard
- Go to Raspbery pi config
--> Advanced Options > Overscan off ( it is the case)
--> Advanced Options >Memory Split GPU> 256
--> Finish Reboot - Press F4 on the main menu. Emulationstation will close.
Type…
cd RetroPie-Setup
git pull
sudo ./retropie_packages.sh sdl2
sudo apt-get install pi-bluetooth
emulationstation - Go To Retropie Menu
Setup configuration >Instal/Pair PS3 Controller>Instal PS3 Controler - Trun off the pi
-Configure your ps3 Controller on Emulationstation and it should work on the bluetooth
Pi3 Working with ps3 controller .
But it seems unstable freezing the screen in some roms. :(
This is what i try -
First thing is to drop the split down to closer of 64...
256 is overkill for most games... (Mine is 64 and runs everything from PSX to NES
-
I have the same issue with games freezing constantly using bluetooth and PS3 controller wirelessly. This is related to memory split? I am new to the Raspi scene....
-
@sk8ersublime if you're using the pi3 onboard Bluetooth that's your problem. It's unstable. You'll need a separate Bluetooth dongle if you want it to work or wait until raspbian fixes their firmware.

@sk8ersublime
There are problems with PS3 controllers crashing currently with the built in bluetooth - https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/1360In the same forum, you can confirm what herbs is saying , look like uses a external Bluetooth would solve the problem.
@herb_fargus , is needed do deactivate the internal Bluetooth to work with the dongle?
-
@Ornitorick idk, haven't tried. I don't have Bluetooth devices to test
-
@Ornitorick ah, good to know! thanks for the reply!
-
@herb_fargus I will try and see what happens o/
