Emulation station wont load

Yes this was on my initial boot and I have retried but to no avail. The screen looks like this...
-
I once had errors like that, turned out being a corrupt sd card.
-
That's a likely possibility. Running with that assumption, you should try a new install and see how that goes. Also, corruption right out of the gate might point to issues with your power supply. What is it's listed volt and amp rating?
-
It is 5v/2.5A, is this adequate? Also, if it is likely the sd card, should I just completely wipe it clean and reinstall retropie on it and try again, or will I need a new sd card? I am currently using a 64G card.
-
Try a different card if you have one lying around, even a smaller one will do for testing purposes. My bad card was just plain bad, no matter how many times I did a fresh install it came up with errors. I even ran it through fsck which found errors but still couldn't get it right, it's in the trash now.
Unless you're overclocking or running lots of peripherals that power supply "should" be okay. They're not all the same though and they can't always be trusted. Are you seeing a low voltage rainbow square in the top right corner on boot?
-
Yeah, your power supply is probably fine. If wiping it with a fresh install works out, you're golden. If it doesn't, you can try fsck. After that, trying a different card will help determine if outside issues are in play.
-
I reinstalled retropie but the same issue occurred. I checked my sd card for corruption but it said it was clean. Im not sure what my next move would be
-
Try another sdcard.
-
I will, would downloading an older version make any difference? I have 3.7 but would 3.6 or something work? No clue, just trying to cover everything
-
No - the problem is a hardware issue I believe (or something is going very wrong when writing the image).
-
When trouble shooting you don't want to change too much, you'll never know what the issue is. Just try another card, like I said I had the same errors with a bad card.
