lr-vice . does it exist and work?

ive found this link, does anyone have and experience of lr-vice? does it sort out the controller mapping and the fact that sometimes a game uses joystick one and sometimes joystick two?
Im loving playing the old c64 games, but the emulator isnt simple enough to let younger players use it, or people who arent tech savvy.
I love retropie due to the simplicity of the various emulators all being set up automatically for me. -
