@RedBatman Update ES from source using the script. Might take around 30 minutes depending on your internet connection.

@RedBatman In the main ES menu under Configuration > RetroPie SetUp Script> manage packages > manage core packages > emulationstation > update from source

@AlexMurphy you should actually always exit emulationstation and update from source from the command line. Updating from source without exiting emulationstation can cause issues and you may run out of memory.

@TMNTturtlguy Yeah, sorry, I do. I always run the SetUp script from the terminal. I should have advised that. Good call.

@RedBatman to update from source do the following:

exit to the command line terminal

                cd /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup
                sudo ./retropie_setup.sh

Then follow @AlexMurphy instructions above starting with manage packages.

@RedBatman Don't worry as long as it doesn't throw any errors at you. Just let it do its' thing.

Only concern is the red thermometer symbol popping up, Should I buy a fan?

@RedBatman Only if you really need it. My Pis tend to run at about 50-60 Celsius, give or take. Get a heat sink and take the lid off and let some air flow over it. They can get warm when being stressed but I wouldn't worry too much.

@RedBatman Just take the lid off then and let some air at it. When the Pi is updating it is working pretty hard.

Damn what could be causing it to take so long.

@RedBatman I take it you are in North America. It could just be the local servers are busy at this time. What time is it on the east coast , 9:20pm?
