updating to kodi 17.2.. how

So i have kodi on my image along with retropie etc... how do i update to 17.2 on kodi... and i cant just use guides for openelec or librelec as i am not using either of those on my retropie, i have no clue what kodi is installed from which distribution... i need to find that out... cant find anything... impossible to find easy ways of doing this stuff...

@kmickelow You could start by telling us a few things about where you DID get your image. Is it the RetroPie 4.2 image?
