DraStic (Nintendo DS emulator) OUT NOW for pi2/3!
-
i tortured him on the DraStic forum and asked for a Pi specific sub.
I poured sugar in his gas tank and asked for 3DS support. All I got was a restraining order.
-
Well its no longer in the RetroPie Setup menu. Which sucks cause it was running all my games full speed. I just rebuilt my Retropie install now I no longer have access to Drastic.
-
@tonberryhunter Apparently can still install it using the script module. https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/blob/c522c722b6753b1908d7f5fa00b4bc1e105e514a/scriptmodules/emulators/drastic.sh

@tonberryhunter
DraStic was taken off the setup script because the original author wasn't happy with it included in RetroPie in it current "closed beta" state. Hopefully after he releases an "open beta" or more stable release, he'll give RetroPie his blessing to add it back again.

So i had Drastic then when it was removed I added Desume. However when i open the DS Emulater its still Drastic. My problem is I can never get the settings to save so now everytime I want to play I have to reset the controller and screen settings.

@cbrowns620
DraStic
was always flaky about saving specific game controls and settings for me. Some worked, others didn't. It's easy to re-map before playing. A pain but worth it.lr-desmume
is awful. Avoid. Super Mario 64 DS runs at about8-10fps
onlr-desmume
. and the audio is intermittent at best. -
Hi guys, I still have Drastic installed on my Pi and it work really good with the games I play. I currently run RetroPie 4.1, if I update the setup script and all packages, will DraStic automatically be removed as it is no longer available in the RetroPie Setup script, or will it remain installed?
Thanks -
@Evert it will remain installed.
-
@BuZz Thanke mate, that was a quick reply!
-
Exophase came back and responded, it looks like it can be included in Retropie and he explains his position.

@BuZz will DraStic be added back to the RetroPie Setup Script any time soon?
-
@celly It should already be. Exophase LOVES the Pi and its' users. Check the forum, He says he is going to provide support at some point, bur he is too busy living his life. Fair play to the dude.
-
@AlexMurphy thanks man, guess I just needed to update the script.
-
@celly Yeah.
DraStic
is brilliant. Have you triedlr-desmume
on the Pi? It's great if you love 15-18 fps... Exophase did a great job. I just dislike closed-source projects. Pure jealousy. -
It still looks like the Nintendo DS page doesn't list Drastic? https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Nintendo-DS
-
I added information for it. Thanks for pointing it out.

@Linkseo
Hi, Retroboy here. Were you able to resolve issue of black screen when trying to get to config menu in drastic ds? I'm having the same identical problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. -
@retroboy69 Having the same problem !
-
i am not sure if anyone having the same issue as i did...
i can exit Nintendo DS game... :(
I press select + start , it won't work...
anyone can show me the way to exit the DS game by controller/joystick....?
Thank in advanced... -
@chinjw you need to be able to get into the drastic menu by pressing right on the right analog stick. If you get a black screen then you have the same problem as the rest of us. However if you do have the problem, if you could post your controllers config file on here i could make a working drastic config file for you as i had to edit mine manually.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
