@caver01 Easy-peasy. Just grab some random ROMs from a dodgy site and stick them in a random folder and pray to the Gods of MAME. Is that not how it's done?

@ortsac The default emulator for Apple II is Linapple which works very well. You will want to use a keyboard with F-keys in order to invoke the various functions specific to that emulator for selecting disk images, etc.

I thought there was a version of Linapple that had been compiled with changes so you can select an image from the Emulation Station list (like how ROMs work in other emulators). I don't recall if that fork is the one we use here. In any case, you need to install it first using the RetroPie configuration.

I happen to use AdvanceMESS to run my Apple II disk images. This is a lot trickier to setup, but it is possible if you install AdvanceMAME, launch advmess once, then do some edits and file transfers to get Apple II system setup. I wrote about some of those details here.

I assume it is. I'm able to run images directly from ES.

@mediamogul Cool. I should take another look. I am not sure about @ortsac 's intentions (mentioned wanting to build inside an Apple II case on another thread), but in an arcade cabinet build like mine, custom key mapping per disk image is crucial. This would involve scripting config swapping which is what I have going in my MESS setup. The difference is that with MESS, I can use the GUI menu to map keys which is very nice.

I am new Linux an GitHub. I am trying to install 'linapple', the Apple II emulator for this repository:
                      https://github.com/dabonetn/linapple-pie

What are the steps to do this? A script in the repository named "retro-install.sh" is suppose to install the 'binaries' once I get the contents of the repository into the Pi. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!!

@ortsac Did you try installing it through the RetroPie Setup Script?

@AlexMurphy Which option from the RetroPie Setup Script menu would that be?

@ortsac I'm really not sure if that is sarcasm or sincerity. I hope I helped!
