The GBA L and R buttons are ALWAYS mapped to L and R in this emulator and cannot be changed in Retroarch. Seems really dumb that you can't map them to the standard 4 button controls. Does anybody know how to delve deep into the configs and change this manually so you can map these to the X/Y buttons?

The only information I could find on this subject anywhere online was somebody else asking this question without an answer 8 months ago here: https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroPie/comments/54tt7a/gba_button_xr_yl_remapping_issue_lrgpsp/

      Hi @Used2BeRX

This is a restriction of the way the core is implemented in RetroArch, the developer of the core didn't give access to libRetro to remap the buttons, but instead hard coded the retropad reference in the code. gpSP hasn't been developed for a long time and unless there is a real reason to use it, I would recommend using mGBA (which I think is the default in RetroPie) as this seems much more stable.

@simonster Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately for me, I'm using the Pi Zero. I haven't tried a lot of GBA games yet, but lr-gbSP is much better at playing games on the Zero than lr-mgba is.
