Switch Theme

@EctoOne It easier to see on an actual tv, I captured the screenshots from the Windows version in windowed mode. So they don't look that good.

@lilbud Very nice. One thing is bothering me tho. The rating stars isn't centered below the description textbox but i guess i could fix that myself if i ever get time again to actually update retropie.
Edit: Just added
<alignment>center</alignment>
to the description and i like it more, now i just have to center the developer, releasedate, genre and players to make i look less blocky. -
@EctoOne Could you post a screenshot?
-
@lilbud nope, haven't done it yet. Only added the alignment thing because it was quick to do.

Ok, i've updated my Pi and took another look at your theme. And i'm really diggin it. Yet i found another problem. You have X = Random on the background but IDK if i'm missing something but for me it's not working and i probably won't use it anyways. SO i would prefer if it would say B = Back (at least in detailedview and completely remove it from systemview). Another small detail i want to mention, why not use the same image for systemview and detailed,video? You have bg.png and systembg.png in your assets folder but they are the same. So you could remove one and just change it in the switch.xml. But maybe if you remove/change the X Button thing i mentioned it's nessessary to have a seperate image then.
-
@EctoOne A few things.
- The random game option works for me, just press "x" and it selects a random game.
- bg.png and systembg.png are not the same. systembg has a small line at the top, i'll probably add that in the code at some point.
- I could add the b prompt to the footer and remove the x prompt and place it as an optional bg. That won't be for a few hours.
-
@lilbud Weird, is the random game special to a certain build? I updated to the latest version a few minutes before I posted here and I pressed X and it did nothing. My mistake with the background images, didn't noticed the difference.
-
@EctoOne Try updating from source.
-
@lilbud So i'm running version 2.2.1RP now and still nothing. Isn't that just a thing with the videoscreensaver? I'm not using videos, so that might be the problem. IDK
-
@EctoOne Strange, It works on my pi, and I updated from source yesterday.
-
This might not be the right place to post this. But I dont know how to install this.
I extracted the folder to configs\all\emulationstation\themes
and in there now is a folder called es-theme-switch-light-master. But when I select the theme all I see is the grey background. No picture box for the consoles or new icons =/ -
@lesk the theme path is: etc/emulationstation/themes
-
@lilbud I don't have a etc folder =/
Using windows and have reached my retropie with the ip like this: \192.168.1.122
And there I have bios, config, roms and splashsscreen folders. -
@lesk Update retropie setup, it is now in the theme installer
-
@lilbud Thank you!!!! =D So happy, the best theme for retropie!

I figured it out, i had to reconfigure my controller.
Oh and you don't need to create a new image without X = Random or B = Back anymore (at least not for me). I just took your systembg and removed the Buttons, inserted the default helpsystem and used it in a Theme i made before for myself. I was never really happy with it because i couldn't find a good background. Interessting that your simple background was so fitting. And i really like that there is no systemlogo on detailed view so i adapted that too. So thanks again for inspiring me to do some work! -
@EctoOne Could you send some pictures of what your version looks like?
-
@lilbud Here ya go:

Interesting that your simple background was so fitting.
That was kind of the point of this theme, the simpler background allows me to make changes very quickly. It can also be colored in the theme.xml to any hex color.
