Splashscreen video - Not playing on 3.5mm jack

I am running a HDMI screen with no sound, but I have a 3.5mm Audio Jack hooked up for my speakers. I have set the 'Configure audio settings' to 3.5mm Audio jack and I still can not hear the video sounds for the splashscreen, any ideas on how to fix?

you could try and force it by editing
/etc/init.d/asplashscreenand finding the lines with "omxplayer" in and adding the additional parameter-o local
