linux joystick mapper installation problem

hey, I have the project to build a raspberry swith and i have alredy bought the joy con. To make them act as player 1 I need to install linux joystick mapper wich can combinne to contoller. When I download it, I have just a .tar.gz file and I don't know what to do with
any ideas?
(I have already tried to install it from the terminal) -

@Jean I have used the Linux Joystick Mapper program in the past to map the mouse to an analog stick for use in DOS games. I have no experience with using it with the Joy Con controller so I don't know if it will even work. You may wish to check this video first before you proceed.

Once you've read these, I would suggest creating a simple mapper file that enters letters and numbers on a command line.
