In SNes games no problem.. I tried the Port for Quake 1, which also works fine.. Quake 3? Forget it.. No input registred either

ok thats odd, quake works but not doom, going to have to dive a little on my system to see if i can find anything,
or someone with more knowledge then I can point out what is going on

I'm a little tempted to download some of the "custom" images of Retropie people have made. With all the roms installed and probably fixed all the controls as well. But the images are hidden behind a gigaton of ads and all sorts of stuff, so I deemed it impossible to get it.

just a question
when you start doom, press A when it tells you to. in that menu the first option will be what Emu you want to use. Press A. does it say Lr-prdoom
EDIT nevermind, there is only two to pick from Lr-prdoom or zdoom. and if you only installed Prdoom then that will be the only one.

if you can when you start the game. press select and x
this will being up the Retroarch menu.
open quick menu, and then go to controls, from there you can change the controls.
that is if you can get there. if not,we will need to get more help. i have come up with nothing why it does not see your controller

I just tried to "Select and X", but nothing happens.. I can only get to the menu when it says "press a button to...etc" but in that menu, all I can change is which emulator to use, and video settings etc..

I don't think it would matter at all, but have you tried re-defining your controllers in ES now that you installed these new ports/systems?
Given that their libretro, I don't expect it to influence things in any way, but worth a shot.

Dammit.. Hmm Well.. Another thing I could try is basicly:
- Format and reinstall from scratch or
- Install Retropie On top of the Raspbian O/S I have on another Sd card. Wourld this be possible? And without too much loss?

if you have a spare card i say do a clean load on that one, and get PrBoom going on it frist, see if something got messed up that you missed. should not take long just to do that.
i have done that a few times when i could not get something going and i wanted to make sure it was not the load

Hi again. Sorry for the slow reply, I've just been busy playing around with my Pi :).
So I reinstalled my PI and this time, without updating any setup scripts (which is usally recommended as I understand) And now it runs soo much better. I've plugged in a ps4 controller, and the mapping for NES/SNES/GBA/N64 are basicly flawless.. Only challenge was to map controls for Dosbox.. I did finally get directions in Doom to work, but I used a very un-logic solution. In the Dosbox Mapper, It didn't matter which directional control I remapped, nothing worked. Until I tried to remap the Numpad keys (which are also used as directional keys in doom) and THAT did the trick for direction :) -
nice, as long as it works for you and you know what it going on. that is all that matters.

Yeah thats what I think too. Uhm. btw.. Do you know how to setup the PSP emulator so it runs games like little big planet more smoothly? Its pretty laggy on my pi3, but I've seen a youtuber play it silky smooth.

Overclocking? I tried fiddling around with this in retropie setup, but it told me that pi3 cannot be overclocked..
On a more positive note though, I've read many places that N64 games almost can't run. I experience the exact opposite. I have a bunch of them and they all work :)

@RpiBeginner just wanted to let you know about dosbox controls. You want to hook up a mouse and keyboard as well. When you start a game and you get into the game press ctrl & f1 together. It will bring up a hard to see blue on black menu. If you click on something you want to configure a key to you then want to click on the add button at the bottom. Then click on the controller button or joystick direction you want to add. Set up an exit button. I forget what it is called in the config, but its right under player 1. I use my select button for exit. Set up player 1 and player 2 both on player 1's controller. That will give you 4 buttons and two analogs if your controller has it. Any extra buttons you can program to keyboard keys. I program my start button to escape. If you want to know anything about setting up .sh files to be able to automatically boot straight to a game and have it running at the correct speed or how to best set up your dosbox config file i will gladly tell you everything you need or want to know. Same with setting up .sh files for zdoom if you choose to use that for doom engine games. It is far better than lr-prboom and you can run tons of games and mods on it. I have all dos doom engine games on both dos and zdoom. Sometimes i like to play them old school. I have 50+ doom engine games running on zdoom

Okay so today I tried to overclock my RPI3.. But I don't think I'm doing it right.
So I've read the link you posted, and here's what I did:
First I put my SD card in my pc and opened the Config.txt file and changed the default value for Arm freq (700) to 800. with no noticeable change.
Then I tried inserting core_freq and gpu_freq and gave them the same values as the link suggests. Still No noticeable increase in performance what so ever?
I've tested Tekken 5 (PSP) because it was laggy and GPU heavy..
I've also tested Super smash bros (N64) because the sound was bugging out. No difference in both games.
So I might be doing this wrong, could you help me please?
