      @iconrumble It was simpler than that. It seems the themes update doesn't like my wifi but I tried the ethernet connection and all is fine. :-)

        thanks iconrumble but i'm trying to upload a modifed theme that i have on my pc, is this still the same method ? I've found on youtube a video with modfied file to add a power button the the menu but need to modified the theme and uploaded agani on my raspberry

          @bisus to keep it simple, you can copy your modified theme to the ROMs folder (using samba or winscp), than go to ES ->retropie -> file manager, from where you can move it to the etc folder (the file manager is automaticaly run as superuser so from it you have access to the full the filesystem)

              @bisus better practise is to just put your theme in /home/pi/.emulationstation

                  @bisus yes. They may need to be in a themes folder like it is for the other themes

                      @bisus yep es_systems.cfg can go there too- you'll just need to manually sync any new changes when you add new systems etc. Anything in the .emulationstation folder won't be overwritten on updates.

                        I made the stupid mistake of using the password "rasberry" instead of "raspberry"

                        Maybe you did the same?

                          @bisus put the theme in /opt/retropie/all/emulationstation/themes/ and user pi shouldnt get permission denied.
