      I have a Pi 3 model b that will not work with retropie or recalbox. I've tried a couple different premade images that I put on my 32 gb sd card with no problems. The pi starts up but always gets stuck in one way or another. Right now I'm using the "32GB RetroPie 4.2 Image Pi Zero W or Pi 3 – MadLittlePixel" image and it starts booting but gets stuck at this screen.

          @lukems3

          Don't use third-party images and then request support from here, it won't end well.

          That being said, your SD card looks to be either fake or corrupt, try another card.

            @simonster Sorry! After herb_fargus told me to ask madlittlepixel for I figured that was the case so I decided to install the default retropie software. It works for the most part but now whenever I go into a setting (ie. audio, bluetooth, etc.) I can configure it fine but once I go back to the normal config screen my keyboard and controller stop working. Could this be an SD card problem or is it something else? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I don't know what I'm doing.

              @lukems3 as mentioned - likely bad sd card.

                @lukems3 one way to rule out a bad SD card is to remove all the peripherals and see if it boots as normal. I found that in many cases for some reason the usb hub I was using on my pi zero caused all sorts of booting issues but as soon as I removed the hub and just plugged in one thing with the otg cable magically all the hang ups went away.

                Not sure if it was a power thing or a cable thing or who knows but it's worth checking out before you go buying more stuff you don't need, but it wouldn't hurt to test with another SD card if you have it
