Multiple Controller Questions

running rpi 3, retropie v4.2.8
1.I currently have a ps4 and nes30 pro controller and ideally i would like to have both with the same amount of access to (hot key button) but what I have run into is that I can't individually program each controller to use their select button as the hotkey. So only one controller can return back to Emulationstation. For example if set the ps4 controller up as player 1 in retroarch only player 1 will be able to use the hot key function. There is only 1 setting in retroarch .
2.Can either controller ps4 or nes30 be setup as player 1 or 2 based on which one i connect to BT. For example if i set nes30 up as player 2 in retroach but I only connect the nes30 controller in retropie to bt can that automatically be assigned to player 1? Im finding that it is still choosing player 2 .
3.Will ps3 controllers ever be able to be used in conjunction with other non ps3 controllers?
- Are two ps4 controllers able to successfully work together? I know previously it wasn't possible.
