For whatever reason, I can no longer get the vectrex or virtualboy emulators to play anything I throw at them. I can confirm that I had them working on this very same device just two days ago, nothing should have changed. Is there a way for me to "reset" them?

can try a re-install (after removing any configs related to them) but you know that you need to provide more information right ? https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

          well, i should know :)
I have much of that in my signature (not that its very verbose...)

I do try and use whatever the latest is from github actually though yesterday I could not run the "update retropie script" and got an error:

          Update failed:
error: you made changes to scraper.sh, can not update for you now, aborting

I have restored my scraper.sh to the one from the repo and its still not taking it. even the permissions on it are the same as well as the owner.

I will try another re-install later after removing everything related to them this time around.

@ProxyCell you can just delete the scraper.sh and on update it will be restored

                Thanks @herb_fargus @BuZz !
That fixes the script-updating (which now has a brand new menu and module system I see!)

I have tried the following now for Vectrex and VirtualBoy:

                1. Fresh install from binary
                2. Fresh install from source
                3. Removed them and retried both binary and source separately

For both: I see the loading screen where it lets me press a button to switch emulators/options/etc
For Vec: It does not appear to load at all, it returns me to ES after showing a black screen for just a second
for VB: it has the yellow retroarch text in the bottom left hand corner indicating my controllers are connected/configured. it then leads me to an all black-screen and it sits here for some time.

This shows up in the /tmp/runcommand.log :
                unhandled setting I: vb.cpu_emulation
                unhandled setting UI: vb.3dmode
                unhandled setting UI: vb.liprescale
                unhandled setting UI: vb.sidebyside.separation
                unhandled setting UI: vb.3dreverse
                unhandled setting B: vb.disable_parallax
                Setting UI: vb.anaglyph.lcolor=ff0000
                unhandled setting UI: vb.default_color
                Setting UI: vb.anaglyph.lcolor=ff0000
                unhandled setting UI: vb.default_color
                Setting UI: vb.anaglyph.lcolor=ff0000
                unhandled setting UI: vb.default_color
                Setting UI: vb.anaglyph.lcolor=ff0000
                unhandled setting UI: vb.default_color
                unhandled setting B: vb.input.instant_read_hack

I can not seem to tie-down what the cause is yet. Here is the runcommand log for Vectrex now:

                  /opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh: line 804: 988 Segmentation fault /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-vecx/vecx_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/vectrex/retroarch.cfg "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/vectrex/Pole Position (USA) (C10F37D8).vec" --appendconfig /tmp/retroarch.cfg
