Screen going off to the right

Bought a 7" screen and display controller board and this has happened, ive tried overscan etc but theres no difference? Been at this all day.

Did you try changing the default screen mode via /boot/config.txt ?

What would i change it to? sorry im new to all of this, im building an arcade machine!

Did you read though the document ? try some modes that match the spec of your screen. you will need to spend some time reading though the parameters.

I thought it worked because the boot text looked fullscreen... but nope

though what worked? You haven't told me what you have tried.
Please also provide details of exactly what you have changed, including any overscan settings you tried.

i was messing around with the overscan, i have made that many changes i cannot name them all, been in config.txt and configure retropie in the settings

you will need to provide actual details or I can't help. At least an example of what overscan you have tried - or what screenmodes. Perhaps you are not even doing it right, but without an example I'm afraid I won't be able to help futher.

@fulton1 Can you send me some info about your screen and the controller board that drives it? Manufacture name and any and all numbers on the back. Maybe take pictures of it and post them here. I have some limited experience with this type of screen.

@fulton1 OK.. This is only a guess but you could try to change the following lines:
"disable_overscan=1" should be commented out
"#hdmi_force_hotplug=1" should be uncommented out
The line: "force 800x480 resolution as this is non-standard for HDMI" should be commented out
"hdmi_mode=1" should be commented out as it is in conflict with the next line "hdmi_mode=87"(this line should be OK)

Your boot text is cut off also. Look at the second line of text. Can you post a link to an eBay or Amazon listing for the screen you bought?

@Douggernaut the tablet is was made for is a Medion Lifetab E7310 , the resolution of the screen is 1024 x 600

@Douggernaut Didnt make a difference bro, if anything it moved it further to the right, ive lost 2 days to this damn screen :/ BUT the text at the start is no longer cut off!!!!!

it is cut off, i thought it hadnt because the font size shrunk

@fulton1 OK.. I found a link to the manual for this controller card but I don't think this will help. "http://www.elecrealm.com/down/html/?40.html" It looks like the only way you can change the resolution of the screen is to use a PC with a parallel port and a cable. No luck :-(
