@spruce_m00se dosbox. When you install it on your pc it has dosbox files setup for it. I can help you set it up for the pi.

@spruce_m00se as long as they are dos versions of the games you can use dosbox. There is a retropie dosbox wiki but i can help you a lot to speed up the process.

@exarkuniv red alert and CnC went slow on original hardware and run slow on my i7 with 16gb of ram, they were just coded badly, or had coding limits, thts part of the fun of multiplayer, you storm them with so many units that it slows down, then they dont know what to do since they are used to certain reaction speeds. it throws people off

@afunnyname dos means disk operating system. Ms-dos is what microsoft used before windows. When you see a command line screen, that is what dos was like. If you have windows on your computer sometimes you have to bring up the dos prompt to do something in command line. That is what dos was. No gui. Windows 3.1x is an operating system running on dos.

@arkive thanks for reminding me about being old... but just think about it, we will be the first generation (in any sizable numbers) to play video games through our golden years.

@exarkuniv and generation z will be the generation in their golden years that just watches past generations play games. Like they do now.

Yeah, that cracks me up. Ironically, it's called "Let's Play" :)

Getting old is not that bad, at least not that bad as it looked when I was a kid. And true, the added bonus of being the part of the videogame pioneer wave, is priceless.

I don't know what they'll be playing 100 or 1000 years from now, but I doubt it'll be any better than stuff from the incredible DOS Decade - 1985 to 1995.

@exarkuniv i only just discovered dune 2, my first cnc was on the saturn, I played that sucker to the end over the christmas holidays when I got it, then we got tiberiun sun on the pc, then RA2, then I stopped, because they turned shite.
I still havent met a person who can beat me in a lan battle on either of them. quite a few have tried, I can normally take two people at once who consider them good and hand them a whoping.
