      Hello everyone.

Ok people currently when i boot up my pi up right now it goes to emulation station but only to amiga which it says has 2 games (ive not added any to it) but i am stuck there, i can't do anything can't select school exit etc. this happened after i did an update last night and rebooted.

anyways I think I am done with this image file i was using I was able to get stuff i could never get working with the pi 2 and whatever version of retropie i was using.

anyways the version i am using is the game wizard which I guess is not supported here and i can understand but its not working right so I am going to use the latest retropie version on here and do it the old way.

anyways what i need to know before i add anything to it what are the steps i need to take to make sure i have a good setup.

get it on card using the programs
      boot the pi
it probably detects gamepad at that point get that set up

at this point what should i be doing to make sure everything is updated and will work.
eventually i want to mod the pi with a custom case with its own power buttons and such and nfc reader etc but thats all in the future for now i need to get it working right.

      Thanks

      Ryan

so then there is nothing special one needs to update then?

about to set up with the latest retropie and see if that makes a difference.

@rgs80074 I followed that video exactly, and everything works. It will ask you on boot to configure your controller if you have it plugged in. From there, you need to enable wifi.

You also need a way of getting roms onto the the pi. Either by using a USB stick following the instructions in the video.

Or you can enable SSH and use a program like WinSCP to connect and put on roms.

No emulators will appear until you have roms in the folders.

yeah i've done it like in the video. never had any issues with adding roms did have an issue with roms i know was there not showing up but in the test i did they seem to show up fine.

videos i kept seeing said to do an update before adding roms. I had a image on and going and i did an update and after the update (i assume that this point the update overwrote customer things to their image making the whole thing unusable).

i liked that image for a few reasons over the retro pie but whats the use of having an image if things are not going to work right so probably will stick with the normal retro images off the website.

some things i liked about it (gw image)

was the autoget on roms and I can fully realize why thats not an image you'd want to distribute here with the legality of it. so with that said it also had the ability to scrap but it did more than the scraper in emulation station. not only did it do art and such but it also did small videos (mp4's). is that something special just to it or can that be done on the newest retropie and emulation station easly? i loved having those short little videos too.

not really sure if the other one was like this only game really played was a snes super mario world but on the current retropie setup everything is very pixelated. i know previously they was not like this on the raspberry pi 2 setup (except for mame because i could never get that installed). if i had not already known they look good on the 4k tv i'd say that was it but the tv is the same one as when i had this installed on the pi2 a year or so ago. is there something i can enable or should be enabling ot make them look better?

last thing is i want to set my pi up like in the youtube video (if you search for raspberry pi nes system) and you find a video about 7 1/2 minutes long where a guy has a rasbperry pi 2 in a custom nes case with functioning power and reset buttons along with a nfc card reader for little game cartridges. i just don' t know if thats possible it seems he was just using retropie so it gives me hope if i can get instructions on how to set up all the other stuff.

@rgs80074 It sounds like you are looking for a better scraper (for box art and potentially videos) and shaders (to take care of pixilating). Both are available.
