Can anyone HELP! me place these ROM'S in their correct location?
-
@rbaker Sorry to be rude now, but please tell him why a created folder... maybe CPS1 won't show up in ES. Then you can tell what is a romset and after that you can tell how to establish ssh and then you can tell how to edit some files....
-
@cyperghost Ok I've already set up the comic theme instead of the carbon. Now I'm just figuring out the es_system.cfg

@martinrdgz said in Can anyone HELP! me place these ROM'S in their correct location?:
if I create a CPS1 folder in my retropie and place roms there it won't work
I have read back through your post. Doing this will not help. Read this..https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Arcade/
-
@martinrdgz and this: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/7247/guide-arcade-games-and-how-to-play-them-a-non-technical-mame-fba-tutorial
I wouldn't try to set up any themes at all until you have a working setup. What you are doing right now will not help you play cps roms. If you have read all that, now read all this:
https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Validating,-Rebuilding,-and-Filtering-Arcade-ROMs/ -
@martinrdgz
Okay 30% done....
Next setup the es_systemsBest is to copy the whole <arcade> part and rename it to <cps1>
But please read the links I've posted ... they contain essential info. You will surly made it.
Excuse me @rbaker but step by step is better maybe the romset is good and there will be no error. But at first point he will need access to CPS files. -
I'm reading all the information given I'll be back if I need help or have a ? Thanks!
-
I read the information given, but mostly didn't comprehend anything on it :( But what I've learned is that roms have a version number, and I need to place them with an emulator that plays those rom versions for example mame4all plays roms that have a version 0.37b5. So now my question is what versions are my cps1, cps2, and cps3 can you help me.
Note: The Roms that are on my PC were extracted from the Rey's Image. I'm building my own image for myself.
-
@martinrdgz we won't support third party images or the contents of them. Ask Rey for help.
-
@herb_fargus Ok sorry, but do you know if cps1, cps2, and cps3 have rom versions?
-
@martinrdgz I am assuming you will be following @herb_fargus advice and starting with a fresh image. Since I just reset up my CPS games due to issues with FBA2012 emulator, see this thread which has plenty of information about what romsets work with what emulators. What Emulator/romset for cps1-2-3

@tmntturtlguy how can I enable video snaps on you comic theme?
-
@martinrdgz you need to scrape for video and make sure the videos are in your gamelist. Make sure that in the start menu the theme is set to video. That is it. There is nothing different or special that needs to be done with my ComicBook theme, it works just like all the other themes that support video.
-
@tmntturtlguy I've press start--->UI SETTINGS: and I don't get anything on theme that states video. Below is what I get under UI SETTINGS:
UI SETTINGS:
Screensaver after
Screensaver Behavior
Show Framrate
On-Screen Help
Quick System Select
Transition Style
Theme Set: COMICBOOKInside my snes rom folder I have the following folders:
snap (which contains the videos)
the rom files
gamelist.xml -
@tmntturtlguy I barley got videos enable on the retropie. I had to edit my: gamelist.xml
From this: <image>./boxart/Sunset Riders (USA).mp4</image>
To this: <video>./snap/Sunset Riders (USA).mp4</video>And it worked, but the problem now is I wouldn't want to edit one by one is there an easier way?
-
@martinrdgz you have 2 choices:
-
continue what sounds like using a gamelist which you got from unsupported third party image and rewrite the list manually.
-
start with a fresh image, follow the documents and instructions and use one of the supported scraper programs which will scrape most of your roms for both images and videos depending on what setting you choose.
In the end it is your decision. I started my system fresh and used universal xml scraper and now I manually update art and videos to get each rom the way I want it. It is very time consuming but I have found that while all the scrapers work fairly well, none are perfect, and none are exactly what I want for every game.

-
@tmntturtlguy Ok. I have an issue and mabe you know how to go bout it...
-
I installed RetropPe v4.2 in a 4gb micro sd card which I then inserted in my RaspberryPi 3, and updated it to the latest version.
-
I then took out the 4gb micro sd card from my RaspberryPi and made an image of it onto my PC using win32Disk Imager.
-
Then inserted a 64gb micro sd card on to my PC and flashed it to the image.
-
When I connect over network to transfer my snes roms, images, videos, which is a total of 4GB it tells me that I don't have sufficient space. Why is this?
NOTE! The only way it lets me transfer it is if I flash the 64gb micro sd card with the RetroPie v4.2 Image.
-
-
@martinrdgz First i must ask why are you going through the trouble of installing retropie to a 4gb sd card and then making an image and then installing it on a 64gb card? Why not just install it on the 64gb card first? There is no reason to install it on a 4gb sd card at all.
- Then inserted a 64gb micro sd card on to my PC and flashed it to the image.
After step 3 did you take your SD card out of the PC and put it back into your raspberry pi? I assume you did because step 4 says you are trying to transfer roms over the network. Since you made a 4gb image and then installed that image on your 64gb card, you now need to expand your file system through the raspi config menu. This youtube video should help.
-
@tmntturtlguy Right now I'm anxious to try the step you gave me :) But the reason I don't install retropie on a 64gb and them make an image out of it, is because it will then create an almost the same size of the 64gb sd card.
-
@martinrdgz I am confused as to why you think you need to create an image of your card before you even put anything on it? That really does nothing for you....the only reason to create an image of your card is so you can back up all of your settings like controller configs and any custom modifications you do like scanlines/shaders/gamelists. Making an image based on the already available image is an unnecessary step in the process.
-
@tmntturtlguy I don't know why, but I just have to, I can't sleep If I don't do it this way.
2nd: The reason I don't make an image out of a 64gb is because it will create an almost the same size of gb onto my computer. That's why I install retropie onto my 4gb card and then create an image of it so the size wont be any larger than 4gb. I hope I made sense
