Exit ES No longer shows Temp and Space ?
-
Hmm ive been asking alot of question lately
But this should be my last one hehe since it kinda randomly just happened anyway i reinstall retropie its working fine its just i used to be able to check my temperature and my available space and such of i exit out of Emulation Station but now after the reinstall if i exit emulationstation i no longer het that propt message with retropie and my temperature and space hmm weird how do i get this back it was nice feature for me heh -
@retrofreak89
The text is usually shown BEFORE launching ES, as the user is logged in, but the screen is now cleared before launching ES, to avoid text being flashed up when launching something for the first time etc.you can type
retropie_welcome
to get this info or log in via ssh. -
Sorry, I got that wrong - I need to check, but it's probably related to one of the screen clears or another change. I will look into it though when I have a chance.
-
@buzz i mean everytime i exit ES i would see this this message displaying my temperature and space available but since i reinstalled retropie i no longer see it when exiting ES..but you say if i type retropie_welcome i get this back?
I use it to check my temps and how much room i got left heh. -
@retrofreak89 yes. type
retropie_welcome
and you will see it. -
I still get the info when exiting - the other possibility is you removed the bash welcome tweak ? Check in RetroPie-Setup -> Configuration / Tools
-
Also - Looking at your posts, you are not providing much information when posting - please read https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first and fill out as much as possible when reporting issues.

Ok thats weird i get command not found when i typ retropie_welcome also when i exit its just not there and now this command not working hmm why is it gone? All i did was reinstall retropie
-
@retrofreak89 As I said above - you have possibly removed the bash welcome tweak. You can enable it in
RetroPie-Setup -> Configuration / Tools
-
@buzz yeah i just enabled it but when i exit emulationstation it still doesnt pop up nor does the command work even after enabling it in retropie setup -bash tweaked at login
-
@retrofreak89 post the output of this via ssh
cat ~/.bashrc
use a pastebin site or put it in a code block - please do not paste it directly on the forum without it being in a code block.
-
@buzz im sorry but how do i copy paste it lol kinda noob not sure how i can copy it and paste it through my phone on here?
Rly weird tho i did enable the bash thing that retropie project welcome screen with my stats not there and the command line retropie_welcome doesnt work :(
but ill try and paste those as soon as i know how too lol -
@retrofreak89 You can't use your phone. You need to use a PC and connect via SSH. Information on using SSH is in the official documentation. https://retropie.org.uk/docs/SSH/

@buzz well i seem to get lucky very weird i wanted to type in the bash command u Just gave me to see what pops up and behold suddently retropie_welcome is working and also when i exit ES it pops back up weird maybe it needed a few mins for the setting to take effect?
Because as soon as i enabled it i tried it right away like a hundred times didnt work so i then came on here to let you know and smoked a cig and now i went back to it and its suddently its working very weird but good heh thanks for the help i learned a few things today... -
@retrofreak89 you probably didn't restart (the login session) - you would need to restart for it to work.
-
I have also experienced this. I'll f4 to exit or exit from the menu and it will take me back to a blank black screen. If i type "emulationstation" and enter it will bring me back to emulationstation so the welcome screen is still there just not visible for whatever reason. If I restart and f4 again sometimes it will work sometimes it wont. It is very intermittent.
Im currently on a rpi3 , 4.2.8, built from image from this site.
