Does the Doom Metal Mod work with PRBOOM?
-
I'm trying to get the metal mod WAD file to work with my doom games in PRBOOM. I edited the prboom.cfg to include the name of the WAD file but I'm not sure I'm doing it right, or if it works at all. I'm not using Brutal Doom, if that matters.
This is what I have in my prboom.cfg:
Files
wadfile_1 ""DoomMetalVol4.wad""
wadfile_2 """"""
dehfile_1 """"""
dehfile_2 """"""The WAD file is in the same directory as prboom.cfg

@dinierto not sure about lr-prboom, but zdoom plays it without the wad. Its one of the midi selections.

@edmaul69 that's good to know, although I like PRBOOM because it's easier to set up, and I like the traditional gameplay. Just curious if there's a way to make it work. I searched for the MIDI/MP3s but they don't seem to be available outside of the WAD.

I know this is not to your topic related but since you are playing doom with prboom id like to know how you got it to run?
Because me and my brothe both tried installing it like this retropie setup then manage optional packages and install prboom.
Then when i try to boot up the the preinstalled shareware version that came with prboom the game boots up to only the menu title and when i click new game nothing happens it wont start
But when i play it through Zdoom no issues..
But i want to use prboom tho so not sure what to do also like i said even the preinstalled version doesnt work so its not my WAD or anything because i havent added any i did try my WAD tho but same results no matter what i do.
Am i missing something? -
Hmm not sure, I didn't so anything special. However, I can't get tyrquake running so who knows

Trying to use lr-tyrquake with no luck. I can get Dark Places working but I want the libretro core and controller support.
