Lets bring back the slide minimal animations
-
I tried it and the carrousel becomes static but the background still slides
-
@Hex Would you have any idea what combination of options results in the previous animation being referred to here?
I believe it was you who worked on splitting the two options when introducing the instant transition?
-
I moved the tread to the ideas and development, a more proper area :)
-
@sergioad Tell me what you want to move and what should not move. I will help you out with the settings.
- Carousel
- Background
If you select slide/fade transition style, you will get that for all animations.
If you enable carousel animation, it will slide else it will move instantaneously. If you want Background to be instantaneous but carousel to animate then its possible
If you want background to animate and carousel to be instantaneous then its possible. -
@hex keep the carrousek animation but with the background instant, like the old slide minimal animations set đŸ˜€
-
@Hex it sounds like he wants a mix of animations.
- Slide for System View to Gamelist View, Gamelist to emulator
- Instant for the extras on System View, Gamelist to Gamelist.
I don't really think this is something we can/should support.
-
@jdrassa Not necesariously, only disabling the background scroll is enought
-
@sergioad There are currently 3 transitions in ES.
- background items on System View
- View to View
- Gamelist View to emulator
The animation used when one of these transitions occurs is currently consistent across all three. What you are asking for is to have at least one of them behave differently. I understand that the "Simple Slide" did this, but part of the reason it was removed was because of this inconsistency.
The problem is that with 3 transitions and 3 animations, there are 9 different combinations that could be implemented. If we were to add one, then that opens up the door to supporting all of them. Not to mention the difficulty in conveying what each does in the ES menu. The problem would be become even bigger if someone adds a new animation.
I could potentially support adding a separate option to choose the animation for each transition type if someone wanted to implement that.
-
@sergioad is correct. There was a slide instant transition. There used to be 4 different options, and now there are only 3. I also liked the slide instant quite a bit. When i have time i will look at one of my old SD builds and see if i still have that on there. I can take a video of it and post it. I would like it back as well.
Thanks
-
@tmntturtlguy No need to check your old builds. I know that it existed. It was removed when the option to enable/disable the carousel animation was added.
-
@sergioad @jdrassa @TMNTturtlguy
Simple Slide == Carousel : disabled ,Background : Slide.
Since both were separated and configurable using a combo, that option was removed. -
@hex it was reverse, carrousel animated but still backgrounds, I loved it; how can I recover it? Will be an option for unanimate the backgrounds at carrousel mode on a next build or I need to edit something?
-
@sergioad My bad, if it was reversed then this is how you get a similar effect
Carousel Transition : ON
Transition Style : Instant -
@hex It was
-
@sergioad So is it working as expected now?
-
I have not updated RetroPie, have you updated it with the instant background option?
-
@sergioad Have you tried setting Carousel transition to ON and setting transition style to Instant, in your current version?
-
@pjft yes but that also affects to the launch game and carrousel to gamelist transitions that I love, that is why I want to bring back the minimal slide
-
@sergioad I dont think we will be supporting that unless there is a good demand for it in the community.
-
@hex Why not instead add a new checkbox for the option to not animate the background? That is a better solution
