Ok so I have got mame up and running and i am quite happy however all my mame games are in one, quite long, list.
Is there any way to separate these down into different lists,
Other frontends do this with game lists but i have not seen a way to do this with emulation station.

What i am thinking is that i may need to have more than one instance of mame,

My theory is that i can duplicate mame-libretro entry in es_systems.cfg and give it a separate name, and rom path but leave the command the same Emu station should see it as separate emu but still use mame-libretro to launch the roms,
(unfortunatly currently away from my pi so can't check this theory)

Can anyone confirm if this is correct or if there is a different way to have separate game lists for mame,

      Thanks in advance

@Andrewpk200 you can put them in folders. also you can look at building merged sets to slim down your sets

Can you elaborate on 'put them in folders'

What i want to achieve is separate lists in emu station itself, so i can go into a list that would just be arcade classics, or a just of CPS1 games or just fighting games,

As i said, i believe this should be achievable by duplicating the mame-libretro entry in es_systems, giving the dupe version of mame a seperate name (eg mame-libretro-classics) and point the rom path to a folder that just has the arcade classics i want to show up in this list

OR am i making this more complicated than i need to?

The issue i have is even though i am using a slim'd down mame rom set (no dupes, no clones, no neogeo etc) it is still over a thousand games and is a pain in the backside to scroll through.

@Andrewpk200 yep. Just put them in folders. So create a subfolders in the mame folder called cps1 cps2 etc

ahhh righto, so will those folders then be reflected in the rom list in emu station?

Finally back in front of my Pi,
That Achieved exactly what i wanted to!

As i have 'most' of my mame game scraped when i go into mame and if gives me the folders, it also shows the 'scraped' style list, with space for game description and artwork

                  Is there a way to
                  A) make it show the list of folders as a normal list (not the scraped style one)
                  Or
                  B) Give each folder artwork and description and have the list display this

                  AndrewPK
