      Hello,

I noticed as a brand new user that RetroPie loads Emulation Station with a black border around everything on my 1080p HDTV. I see a lot of videos with ES that fills the screen. I cannot find options to change this.

      What can I do?

Check the overscan settings in /boot/config.txt

@GreenHawk84 added it to the FAQ: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/FAQ#how-do-i-remove-the-black-borders

also the very first option if you take two seconds to type into google:

          emulationstation black borders

Disable overscan to remove black border through the menus rather than config.txt. Quick and easy.

@hurl9e9y9 there is a downfall to disabling oversan as apposed to manually adjusting them. Some of the emulators get cut off on all 4 sides. The only way to make every emulator and emulationstation look right you have to manually adjust the top, bottom, left, and right.

@edmaul69 That is a very good point. I did notice that it isn't perfect across the board with all emulators. However it seemed that it worked for the majority. I am certainly no RetroPie expert, this was just a quick fix that worked fairly well with minimal effort. I was primarily aiming this fix to the novice user who may have little to no experience and/or only has a controller connected.

@hurl9e9y9 Thanks man. This has been driving me nuts on a fresh install of RetroPie. Thanks to your video I'm back to full screen again.
