      I believe you used all the information that I used. @edmaul69 and I have compared notes in the past and I think our setups are pretty similar. I wouldn't think that you have to start over. Just make sure those two pieces of software are functional and that you never run anything out of the unix folder or alter any file at all until it has been safely copied over to the Mac classic environment.

          @mediamogul ok both are installed properly i think

          disk copy does nothing unless i have an image
          and stuffit has its own folder

            @mediamogul

            well long behold, i got it to work
            i have no idea if its because i have those apps installed but i dragged my Games folder with all the games over via the shared folder (unix) to the Macintosh HD and the games had the proper icons (no white image anymore) and i was able to open them up.

            only problem is, some games won't load, some games load and then can't quit, things like that

            do you have similar experiences?

            thanks again for your help

              Very happy to hear it.

              do you have similar experiences?

              Some, yeah. From what I've seen it can be a mixed bag of results even under optimal conditions. Sometimes an app needs to run in a certain color depth and sometimes it requires a newer or even older set of OS components. It helps to dumpster dive through the internet and learn as much as you can about the software you're trying to run, which can be difficult sometimes due to the vintage.

                @briandamico if you get a hold of games on cd that work on the older os7.53-8.1 and dont require a power mac, you can actually run them on the pi in the basilisk program. I would update to 8.0, then to 8.1.

                  I forget, do you run multiple OS images, or did you settle on one version that you're happy with?

                    @mediamogul

                    i personally did 7.5.3 and then updated to 7.5.5

                    @edmaul69 so do you think i should go all the way to 8.0? which could help with lots of the older games? ps i left you a reply in the keyboard post ;)

                      @briandamico i went to 8.1. It has more compatibility. Several games require 8.1 or newer but you can only do up to 8.1

                        @mediamogul i have two i use. My os8.1 one and even though vmac does not work on the pi for me i use my 7.5.3 black and white image for all my black and white games. I do have all those games on my color image but i like the authentic feel of the old b&w. I also use the oldest system rom on it too so you cant even change it from b&w. I think its a mac classic 2 rom. I actually have a mac classic 2 and a performa 630cd, so one of these days i am going to put some pi's in them and those images are perfect for them.

                          @edmaul69

                          so question in regards to 8.0/8.1
                          I originally began this macintosh project to simply play the black and white games (take a look at emaculation site) you will see the list of black and white games.
                          I have all of them. but some of them do not open, or just quit, or simply freeze.

                          now i was under the assumption that 7.5.3/7.5.5 would be ideal for this environment. am i mistaken by this ?

                          or does going to 8.0 fix this ?

                            @briandamico i have a kajillion b&w games that all work fine. I can use 7.5.3 and 8.1 just fine. What happens when you try to play the ones that dont work. Also give me names of non working ones so i can test.

                              @edmaul69 brick the walls is one that quits the app on the mac version all together and brick the walls on the pi os (same os) just doesn't open.

                              centipede opens, and just sits there and stalls.

                              i have not gone through them all but a few open fine. but those were the 2 i wanted to play and of course didn't work.

                                          @edmaul69 Hi, I'm trying to setup a retropie with some old Mac games from my heyday and I'm wondering where I can find a definition for all the switches you used in your emulators.cfg file. For instance, I'm trying to mount a folder as a CDRom by using the --cdrom switch and it works but it loads as an audio CD. Is there a way to mount it as a file system? This is for a game that requires a CD to play. I do not have a CDRom drive hooked up to my Pi because it will eventually be set up in a cabinet.

                                          Any advice/help/links would be appreciated.

                                          This is in BasiliskII running OS 7.5.3 (in RetroPie 4.4 on a Raspberry Pi 3B+)

                                          TIA

                                          nog
