need help with defender

Can someone tell me how to get past the rom loading? Says press advance to skip or something like that.
every button i press doesnt do anything, my other mame roms are fine. -

The first time you run the game, it will say '01 0000 COINS LEFT'. To proceed, just hit F3.Basically just reset the content (don't quit the emulator) and it should go through next time.

No worries! You will have a similar thing with games like Joust, Sinistar, Robotron, etc - you can use F2 (service mode) to get past these. I just soft reset to proceed as service mode is not mapped to my PiCade. Most things like this are covered in the above link.
