Switch Theme
-
@Omnija No, I never thought about it and I'm not doing it. Mainly for 2 reasons, that would mean 80 more icons that I'd have to make (honestly, my next theme will have no custom logos) I also like to follow the K.I.S.S Principle for icons. The switch on the icons would make it too cluttered.
-
Just wanted to say I am loving this theme great job! very inspiring! I decided to make some custom icons that could be used for recently played, kodi, settings, all games, favorites, alternative pc-engine, alternative kodi, and rapsbian os hope you don't mind. i thought it gives it even more of a switch feel.

@lilbud Unless I'm being thick, tI can't find the dark Switch theme. I've updated Retropie-in the sense that I updated everything from source. Your Switch theme comes up, but I can only seem to see the Light theme in the theme installer menu. Is the dark theme actually available or has it been pulled?
Also, the theme pictured below: is this one of yours? If so, which is it? I like simple, and prefer dark themes over light themes.

@lilbud Here ya go:

@danorak1981 I'm not at home right now so I can't check if the dark version is available from within Retropie. But at least it's available on github if you want to manually install it. https://github.com/lilbud/es-theme-switch-dark
Also, the images are showing changes I've made to the dark switch version just for personal use. And i will not release it, because i only changed the things I needed for my particular setup and I'm to lazy to add more icons.
-
@danorak1981 I never added the dark theme to the retropie setup, I'll send a PR soon.
That theme you see is a custom version made by @EctoOne
-
@itsmejerry If it is okay with you, I would like to add these icons to the switch theme.
Also, whats the TV icon for?
-
@lilbud Thats actually really cool-I like the Switch theme, but I find light themes a bit hard on the eyes in my lounge-the darker side has always appealed to me (enter Star Wars reference here lol). What I really need to learn to do is make my own theme, but not a clue where to start-I could just pinch bits of others then to make my own!

Why do you think all of my themes have a dark variant? I start by making the light version, but then realize (usually by playing games late at night) that the light version will slowly make me go blind.
-
@lilbud no problem at all please do! the tv icon is just an alternative "kodi" icon. I figured if people do not know what Kodi is it might be easier to just show a tv icon.
Here is the link to the files: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bza0Ft88hK60YkxqVGNhOWxicG8
I'll be sure to share any other additions I make to your theme as well. I am currently working on a loading screen that looks similar to the loading screen on switch.

alternate splash screen replacement.
-
-
Yeah, that was missing.
-
@itsmejerry When it will land in the RetroPie ES themes repo?
-
@sergioad its already there
-
Ok, thanks
-
I just noticed a small error in both variants.
<!-------------LAST PLAYED---------------> <datetime name="md_lbl_lastplayed"> <pos>1 1</pos> </datetime> <datetime name="md_lastplayed"> <pos>1 1</pos> </datetime>
Should be:
<!-------------LAST PLAYED---------------> <text name="md_lbl_lastplayed"> <pos>1 1</pos> </text> <datetime name="md_lastplayed"> <pos>1 1</pos> </datetime>
-
@ectoone Could you submit a pull request to both versions? I'm kind of busy at the moment
-
@lilbud Um, I will try. I just got into that whole github thing a few days ago and it took me an hour to figure out how to even upload files.
I have to fork your themes, change the things in my fork and then send the pull request, right?Edit: I think i've done it, let me know if it was correct.
-
Okay, first update in a long while. But I have updated the theme with some new features.
- Made use of variables in the main theme.xml to remove need for individual system folders.
- Cleaned up code
- Updated colors to be more accurate to the actual Nintendo Switch menu.
-
Update on my end: I got a switch.
