What games are you playing this week? 2017-05-22

@meleu Just wait until Ezlo starts telling you how stupid you are. I really hate that darn hat.

@meleu So far I'm stuck after the first dungeon, but I am trying to play through without using a guide.
I'm playing without a guide too...
The first dungeon you're saying is that one where you get the Earth Element? You have to go talk to the Minish Town elder after getting the Earth Element. Then he says you have to go to Mount Crenel and look for Melari (is he my relative? :) ).
Ezlo suggested we go through in Hyrule Town before going to Mount Crenel. I think I'll take his suggestion.
And that's where I stopped. I'm going to continue soon.
-
@meleu I'm on Mount Crenel now, looking for that blacksmith. I loaded my old saved game from about 10 years ago, and this is where I was stuck back then too.
I will find you, Mr. Blacksmith!
-
@obsidianspider played a bit today. Didn't find Melari yet, but I'm not stuck, just had to stop playing and go to work.
Let me ask: did you get the Grip Ring?
-
@meleu I have the ring, but then I had to stop playing and get to work. When I turned the GBA back on I was back at the bottom of the mountain. :-/
Some call save states cheating, but they certainly are convenient. That said, there's something great about playing the original cartridge on real hardware.
I hope Melari isn't a skeleton by the time I actually find him…
-
A quick break on Minish Cap to experiment a Neo Geo Pocket Color game: SNK vs. Capcom - The Match of the Millennium. Never played anything on this console, and this game has simple but cute graphics and good playability (reminded me Pocket Fighter from PlayStation1). If you like fighting games, worth trying.

I love using save states, especially in Zelda games or RPGs. Just save at the beginning of the dungeon or before a tricky area, and if you die, just reload.
-
@obsidianspider I found Melari! Phew! Here is my tip: you need to use the boomerang. ;-)
-
@meleu man, that means I need to get 300 rupees. Time to grind…
-
Since Melari is a hopeless recluse I gave up on looking for him for a bit and decided to try something different. Now that I finally bought a 3DS I have a system that can play Shovel Knight!

I did it catching some cuckoos. 😊
-
oh yea super mario world is done
edit: just started retroachievements and now sort of need to replay the entire game.
-
@obsidianspider spent my free time making this tool for ES devs and testers but took some breaks to continue Minish Cap.
I've found Earth and Fire elements, Melari fixed that sword, and advanced a little more. Did you give up to save Princess Zelda? : '(
-
@meleu I haven't given up, but it was a nice weekend and I spent a lot of it outside, not really any gaming. Today it's raining, so I think I'll work on getting that boomerang.
-
I was playing Moon Patrol (MAME). Managed to get through A-Z stages, only to discover it starts over with a more challenging mode after Z. Granted, it took me about 5 credits to get there. But fun nonetheless.
Before that, Pole Position - but that was mostly trying to configure the controls (trying to play with mouse/keyboard) etc. I thought I would try that before burying myself in the "xboxdrv" guide to try and setup analog steering.
Played a little Atari 2600 Enduro recently as well.
-
@RumblinBuffalo Sorry to butt in but.. if you, like all normal humans enjoy
Moon Patrol
have you playedHorizon
? I think it is actually just a wee bit better. -
@AlexMurphy I don't think I've ever played it. But I will certainly give it a try. Appreciate the suggestion!
-
@RumblinBuffalo Another
Irem
classic. It's basically the same game... but over 3 planes on the horizon. So you can move between bottom, middle and top. Rather than just blow stuff up and jump over it, It's really addictive. Highly recommended! -

I just found my old Nintendo DS and I'm going to start over the Professor Layton series on it.
