Can't get RetroPie to boot completely
-
I was able to mount the RetroPie image onto my SD card using the built in Disk Image Writer in Ubuntu. When I plug my Raspberry Pi in to boot, It will open to a text interface where it shows all of the services starting until it gets to udev Kernel Device Manager. It tries to start udev Kernel Device Manager and fails, and then it tries again perpetually. The system never finishes booting and I can't do anything with it because of this error. It also fails to start the Trigger Flushing of Journal to Persistent Storage. Does anyone have any advice? Is it a problem with the image that I downloaded or is it an issue with the Disk Image Writer I'm using, or can I do something else to fix this?

Since it's a new image you have nothing to loose trying to rewrite it again. If that doesn't work maybe re-download the image.
I am more Windows based so I use Windows Diskpart to clean the USB completely of all partitions. I use SDFormatter to format the Micro SDHC card (with format adjustment on), then use Win32 Disk Imager to write the image file.

@irish3725 If you are using ubutnu you can use a program I use to make my sd images it called 'dd utility". You can install it easily from the command line by typing "sudo dpkg -i ddutility_1.5_all.deb". It allows you to use the dd command in a gui without the fear of screwing up your system(like I did a couple of times). Once you have your .img file on you ubuntu computer, start dd utility and select restore. This web site will give you all the details. So I tried re downloading the image a few times and I even used the dd utility and I still can't get it to work. I really am not sure what I can do now.

It's most likely a problem in how the image data is being written. The fact that you've tried multiple ways, might point to a defective card.
Edit: Based on your errors, be sure to check the boot partition with fsck for any schenanigans.

@irish3725 Not to be insulting but are you sure you are using the correct image for you pi. I didn't see what you are running.

Did you find a resolution to this? I am having the same issue writing using a Mac and RP1.
