Nothing happens

I have tried both images, and still nothing happens when I load the image onto my sd card, and load it inti my raspberry pi 2 model b. when I power it up, it simply turns on the power indicator, and nothing else. I have spent a good 5 hours trying to get retropi, and I have been forced to take time out of other people's day to get a mobile pi box working. so, with that said, does anyone have any advice?

@Mr.-Pig It seems to work for the thousands of other people who have a Pi 2. Perhaps the issue is on your end? User error? Describe what you are doing. Maybe someone will see the error in your method.

@Mr.-Pig either your download corrupted our you have a bad SD, or a bad power supply

Also try using etcher to write the image

Well I have troubleshooted what I can, and there is nothing wrong with the sd card, or power supply. I suspect there is a problem with the raspberry pi, but I doubt it, as it has been kept in a static bag when not in use, and in a case when in use. The sd card is brand new, purchased just for this project. It is an 8gb sd hc card from , and works with other devices just fine. The power supply is a cannakit power supply, which was designed specifically for the raspberry pi. So by process of elimination, there must be a problem with the image, or the pi.

Now let me describe each step I have taken. now this is for a project I will call the pi box, which is a box that you can set down, plug in, and play your favorite games on, using a small projector as a screen. this is all inside of a Nike shoe box. The projector has a usb port for things such as playing videos off of flash drives, which also works as a way to power the pi, but for now, I just want retropi to run on this thing. So I download the files for a pi 2, and extract them with winrar to my sd card, connected to my computer with a vivitar usb 2.0 card reader, which had proved to be operating normally. I then put this sd card in the pi, plug it into the projector, and power it on to have nothing but "no signal" I then checked the input was hdmi, and it was. So I tried the other image, using the same process as the first, to get the same result. I tried basic troubleshooting for boot issues on the pi, and in case you were wondering, no the "ACT" led didn't flash even once. That is my story.

@Mr.-Pig you can't just extract the image to the SD card. Read the documents on this page on how to install. You need to write the image to the SD card so it becomes a bootable disc. This is basically the first thing in the documents. It looks like you haven't read them at all.
