White screen on adafruit pitft

Hi all
Apologies if this has been covered before I couldn't see it in the list though. I am new to pi and the forum.
I have a raspberry pi 3 latest version and an adafruit piTFT 3.2 touchscreen but when I turn the pi on there is just a blank white screen on the touchscreen.
I am unsure how to get the pi working and the touch screen working, not sure how to configure anything.Sorry again and any help would be much appreciated!
