Well they should be in parity with each other. I may look at it when I get a moment. I'd rather we not recommend people edit their es_systems.cfg if it can be avoided.

@herb_fargus In creating and releasing my theme I have had several questions and requests about system names. A few example are tg16cd and supergrafx. I used the carbon names for all my systems and they all match with my es_systems as they should from the fresh install of retropie off of this site.

My thoughts are that a lot of users are installing images that are not official or supported by this site. In several cases I have inquired users why they need the system names changed and find that they are using premade images or in some instances they download the images to take the roms/art/videos and copy them into their builds.

My response had been that my theme systems are named based on carbon and the official retropie release.

Something that might be useful is a wiki or docs section that lists all systems and the proper naming convention. This way theme builders can all build thier themes using the same folder names, and all users can switch between themes without issue.

I can take the lead with this if you are interested and find it worth our time. I would need your assistance in verify that the names I pull from carbon and names created in the es_systems folder when downloading new systems/optional/experimental are all correct. Thanks

Perhaps adding another column to the listing here would be the most appropriate location.

@mediamogul I love that idea! Is that something I can make a fork of in github and then create a pr?

You can just edit it as is. Once logged in an edit button should appear. Changes will be made immediately.

@TMNTturtlguy This is one where I think we made a mistake as the rom folder "should" match the theme folder.

                  eg:

                  https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/blob/master/scriptmodules/emulators/sdltrs.sh#L42

                  vs

                  https://github.com/RetroPie/es-theme-carbon/tree/master/trs80

it is probably easier to just rename the carbon folder. they should have been named the same in the first place but its such an obscure system it just hasn't come up yet

@mediamogul great, I have several other projects on my to do list to finish, but I will add this to the list as I think it will be very helpful.

@herb_fargus thanks for the link to the setup scripts, that should provide all the info I need to create a master name list for theme makers to use.

@TMNTturtlguy btw most of the platforms are listed here:

                        https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/blob/e03a7f5f857f3bbe5bc216baf990a3bc57e6725a/platforms.cfg

some may not be but they'll be in their individual modules.

I've updated carbon accordingly, sorry for missing that in the first place.
