      How do I convert an image of retro for a zero to a PI3 and how can I check I have the optimized Retropie installed Please.

        You have to install the image that is made for the pi2 or 3. You can not use your pi 1 or zero version on the pi3 because of a different CPU.

          @XVO i dont believe that is true. After you put it into a pi3 you need setup wifi or use ethernet, then you need to go into retropie setup and update retropie setup then update all installed packages.

            @XVO @edmaul69 is correct. You can run the rpi1 image fine on rpi2/3 and then update (to get rpi2/3 optimised binaries). You just can't do it the other way around (the newer CPUs are backward compatible)

                @edmaul69 I thought this was the case and have already updated so should be good only issue ive had is an error on trying to update the setup but not the packages for some reason.

                  @wrusst i would try updating the setup now that you did that and try install all main packages
