My experinces are, that for CPS1 lr-mame2003 is the best core and for CPS2 it is lr-fbalpha2012 any other suggestions?

If I choose mame2003 for CPS2 then most of the US and WORLD Roms can run but it's often try and error with fbaalpha2012 most run flawless.

@cyperghost Thats because you need a different rom set for each emulator. Both run cps1 and cp2 fine. I use both FBA and mame2003, but most my roms come from mame 2003 rom set.

@cyperghost In terms of speed, you won't notice the differences on a pi3, but a non-oc'd pi2, mame2003 got slowdowns and fba did not. I use lr-fbalpha for both my pi2 and pi3. As it was already pointed out, you need a different romset for lr-fbalpha. Mame2003 and fba2012's cps2 romsets will NOT work in lr-fbalpha. There was a change in the roms where it requires key files to decrypt the games now. More info on what version of romsets each emu requires https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/FinalBurn-Alpha
