Bugs with randomize in ES 2.4.0
-
I'm on a pi 3 on the latest retropie. No over clocks or anything like that.
I've been having issues with the new ERS2.4.0 with the randomize feature where you press X to randomly select a game. If you have a small number of roms in any system, after pressing x a few times, it quits ES and throws you out to the command line with and error. It happens with larger gamelists, but takes longer. Its as if i goes through the entire rom list and when it has no more roms left it gives up. It happens on both my pis. A screenshot of the crash error.

The number in the error is the number of roms in that system.

Here is annother bug from annother user
https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/11515/updated-emulationstation-v-2-4-0rp-and-random-select-is-now-crashing-to-terminal -
Thanks for the report. I'll look into it tomorrow.
My bad!

Thanks.
Sorry about that - naive mistake from my end on the random selection logic refactoring.
I just submitted a fix, and I'm providing a patched binary here:
https://github.com/pjft/EmulationStation/releases/download/2.4.0/emulationstation
In case you want to install it yourself.
Thanks for flagging this.
To install, exit ES, and in the terminal (or via SSH), run:
mkdir ES-update cd ES-update wget https://github.com/pjft/EmulationStation/releases/download/2.4.0/emulationstation chmod +x emulationstation sudo cp emulationstation /opt/retropie/supplementary/emulationstation
and then reboot.
Should be good.
Sorry about that once again.
