What games are you playing this week? 2017-07-24
-
@obsidianspider Did you build this Altoids Retropie machine yourself?
-
She said my mitochondria was a mutation.
-
I put it together but wermy and Helder did most of the heavy lifting by figuring things out ahead of time.
-
While looking into WonderSwan stuff online (because I clearly need another handheld like I need a hole in the head) I came across the game Riviera: The Promised Land, which has an English localization for Game Boy Advance. It's a really neat game.
-
Monday night I started on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D on my n3DSXL.
-
@obsidianspider I've spent hundreds of bucks (in my local currency) and you have part of the guilt. I've bought a PS Vita and am looking forward to play Shovel Knight.
Other part of the guilt is my own, since I added support for cheevos in the RetroArch port of Vita (to be honest I only added one single line of code and it was enough :-) ).

@meleu said in What games are you playing this week? 2017-07-24:
I've bought a PS Vita
Step 1: Sell the Vita
Step 2: Buy a 3DS
Step 3: Hack it -
@lilbud you have the full guilt for me don't buying a 3DS. You said that RetroArch doesn't run fine in this device.
-
@meleu @lilbud Fight nice you two ;)
I still haven't tried anything with RetroAchievements, but I'm glad you found a way to use them "on the go"
You can blame me if you want, but I will defer the blame to others on the forum who got me to look into handhelds beyond just buying some to cut them up for Pi projects.
Right now I'm looking into WonderSwan Color, SwanCrystal, and Neo Geo Pocket Color. Why? The better question is, why not? ;)
-
@meleu Just because I have trouble with Retroarch, others may not
-
@obsidianspider my "fight" with @lilbud was only about Phoenix, but that glitch ruined the fun in this fight. :-)
@lilbud I agree bro. I love the 3DS design. More portable than Vita... But my friend @R1n0X showed me his Vita running RetroArch fine... And then we added cheevos support... And it has Shovel Knight too... I ended up buying it.
If I had 3DS available for hacking I would try to work on adding RetroArch/cheevos support...
-
@lilbud I have individual items on my menu for RetroArch systems and they work. The main "RetroArch" program didn't seem to work, but that's OK with me.
-
@meleu Alternatively, if you have a Wii U, hack that instead
-
@lilbud Hard to fit a Wii U in your pocket.
-
@meleu
I think the Retroarch support for the 3DS isn't up to par with the PRi and Vita but they are working on it. I think I read somewhere that the Libretro team initially started adding 3DS support without even owning a 3DS. I believe some of the devs now own 3DS systems so it's just a matter of time.I think the Vita has a more powerful processor than even the 3DS XL and it seams like used games for the Vita are cheaper than that of the 3DS but playing games in 3D is extremely cool lol! Also the (low-res) camera takes 3D pictures and videos!
-
@obsidianspider Listen, whatever use I can get out of my Wii U, I intend to. I hacked it and Retroarch works perfectly on it.
Didya hear me @meleu? Retroarch works well on the Wii U as well and I think Retroachievements work too.
-
@lilbud is clearly being paid by "Big Wii U" ;)
-
@obsidianspider It's not as bad as being paid by "Big Retroachevements" like a certain someone here.
cough cough meleu cough cough
-
@lilbud when you hacked your Wii u are you still able to use it as a normal Wii u or is it just for Retroarch? I kind of want to do this, but I don't want to give up my ability to play Smash 4.
-
@afunnyname It's still a normal Wii U, I can just run retroarch through the browser
