Removing Lag with Hard GPU Sync
-
Retropie 4.2, RasPie 3B
I have removed lag from nes and snes mario games. Lag was small to begin with, but the following settings made it even better, much more playable.
Frame Delay = 5
Hard GPU Sync = On
Hard GPU Sync Frame = 1The Hard GPU setting is new to me. The information says it attempts to sync the GPU with CPU, will improve latency at expense of performance.
Does this make the CPU run hotter? Is there any reason not to use Hard GPU Sync if lag is improved and no performance issue is noticed?

@muehltime there are no such settings as above - they should be lowercase with underscores (I'm assuming you are editing the retroarch.cfg file - do you mean
frame_delay
? - if you are just referencing the names from the GUI that's ok).the hard gpu sync options do nothing on the RPI.

If you are interested in "Input lag" I would recommend @Brunnis thread over at the Libretro forums.

@buzz Thanks. I should have stated, yes I was altering those options via the GUI. So even though Hard GPU Sync appears in the GUI, it does not really exist on the RetroPie?

@muehltime It does nothing on the RPI.
