@tmntturtlguy Turtles in Time ranked #1
Also, Mutant Nightmare 3 should up there with the worst games. The only good thing about it is that you can unlock the arcade version of Turtles in Time after the 1st level.

@ruckage i have some "heroes" stuff as well....I always thought it was crazy. Did you know that Mikey's nunchucks were also a major issue, they were considered worse than sais and katanas! A little trivia for you, in the second movie, secret of the ooze you barely see the turtles weapons, and they rarely use them. To make the movie more marketable to other markets Michaelangelo uses sausages instead of nunchucks in the opening scenes.

@lilbud
I'm a little surprised none of the GBA games were in that list either - they were pretty good, particularly TMNT which was obviously inspired by the arcade game/turtles in time. Not as good as it's inspiration but still fun and has a cool art style. -

Yeah, I remember :D, Michaelangelo was my favourite character and the whole nun-chuck thing was all over the news. Usual witch hunt that happens repeatedly, some isolated act of violence happens and games or TV/movies get blamed for it. Still happens now. Street fighter 2 caused massive controversy when that was popular as well (I think they were worried we might start hurling fireballs at each other :D).
-
@ruckage good thing a capcom / neo geo theme came out. I might of had to start handing out some hadoukens if it didnt... :) i love how we like to blame media for our actions instead of parents taking responsibility for being crappy parents.

That happens all the time, something bad happens and they start to come up with a logical explanation for what happens...until they find out that he/she played video games, and then video games are called the devil.

Is that a Ecto One? Good choice:)
Have i heard my name? :D
Anyways, i never heard the US theme of TMNT before but now i can see why the German version is so popular in the states.
-
@ectoone that is pretty awesome!
-
Wow. I hadn't played Hyperstone Heist yet - what an enjoyable game. I had played the arcade ones, but this is a lot more easy going - single credit, still surviving at the end of stage 2-3, fighting Rocksteady, had to pause it to look after the kids. Still, great 30 mins or so.
Thanks!
-
@pjft You never lived :) Man I remember hours on hours in teamplay! It's one of the best game in the series. The series on the GameBoy was also not bad - and I got also Turtels III on the GameBoy and I played it through
Passcode for last stage: 1HHHHHHHH2
The last number is the number of continous :)
That was really fun that time :) and one of the best puzzle games adventure games at that time! -
walks up to microphone Turtles in Time had the better sound track
-
@lilbud I made it through all 3 titles of Turtels in the GameBoy series on the original mashine (for about 25 years now). Don't tell me about quality soundtracks :D
It was always a nice time ... lots of fun. But I think in mid 90s my console time ended. And now 201x it's a bit reborn, thx to those people here :) -
@pjft @cyperghost @lilbud Regardless which is better, I am not sure that many other beat-em up games of the era could beat Turtles in Time, Hyperstone heist or TMNT arcade. They are all classics (yes i know there are others out their that are just as great @meleu.....battle toads on nes!). Especially if talking about 4 player beat-em up games from the early 90's - both turtles arcade games are top notch. X-men and Simpsons are right up there as well, but TMNT brings back so many memories.
@pjft i am glad you got a chance to play hyperstone heist, one of my all time favorites and I have a hard time picking between Turtles in Time and Hyperstone when talking consoles, Turtles in Time wins out because of the 4 player standup arcade game!
For all 3 of you, there is an alternate japan version of hyperstone heist called "return of the shredder" I believe it is basically the same game with a few slight tweaks, i intend to play it through in the next couple of weeks.
-
@ectoone Haha!
From my very little german comprehension, I love the "mega starke hero Turtles". It sounds like Rammstein's lead singer is screaming the lyrics an octave higher than the original one, probably because the "bass" voice line is either too low or missing.
But thanks for sharing - learned something new today :)
-
@tmntturtlguy Turtles in time is just plain awesome. I've been playing it for around 2 years now, and I actually attempted to race a friend in the game, but we never finished.
We had this race in 8th grade on emulators during free time between finals. I think he won cause he beat the train level before me :)

@lilbud ha ha - I think i have been playing turtles in time for longer than you have been alive. I have been playing it for 26 years. I still remember when the game came out in the actual arcade and then I had to wait an entire year to get it for my birthday when it came out for SNES.
-
@tmntturtlguy Most of the games I play were made long before I was born. Turtles in Time is a fun game, but I don't recommend playing it on a keyboard/touch screen.

Me too, quite nice that there is such a wide age range on this forum and it's good to know that the classic games are still appreciated by people who didn't get to play them the first time around.
Until fairly recently I didn't realise there was an arcade version of 'Turtles in Time', I thought it was a SNES exclusive. I used to visit arcades regularly when I was that age - it's really strange that no one had it as the first arcade game was really popular.Having a bit of SNES nostalgia - another great snes beat 'em up by Konami is 'Batman Returns' - I loved that game so much:
We've all managed to really derail your thread :D, I found this video earlier, you may have seen it before but thought you might be able to use it for a splashscreen. I'm really surprised there aren't better quality versions of the original tmnt intro online anywhere.
-
@ruckage The batman games of that era are also really good, i agree that SNES Batman returns is awesome.
The turtles in time arcade machines are very rare, they are hard to find these days, i don't think that to many of them were distributed.
As for derailing the thread - this thread is awesome so no worries - talking late 80's/90's turtles, batman, ghostbusters, transformers - couldn't think of a better topic. I found that 3D version on youtube as well and I would love to incorporate that into the splash as well. I couldn't find a free download of that version though? I don't use torrents or other file sharing sites, i typically only download videos/media that are shared on sites by the creators for free. I will have to see if i can find this video somewhere!

@ruckage CGI turtles are just a little unsettling, but not as unsettling as the "News of the World" robot
It's a lot creepier in person, believe me.
