A fix for this issue has been added to RetroPie-Setup, making the splashscreen work on any HDMI connected port on the current/old Buster release.

Secondly, on a prior install, I had an addon that would play a video preview of each game when hovered on the title. Can anyone tell me how to do this again? Presently a low resolution image shows that doesn't look very good.

If you have videos scraped for the games, the front-end can play them if the current theme supports them. There's no 'addons' that need to be installed.

There's nothing out-of-the-box for this, but you can use triggerhappy to map a gamepad button (or combo) to a command that will stop the video player (omxplayer).

@mitu Yeah, the Splash screen and menu aren't a huge deal, so I don't mind too much, I just wish I could figure it out. At this point I'm hoping it's resolved with a future update.

@mxlothar by splash screen I assume you mean the title screen? I've always had issues with using controls on spectrum games. You'll need to go to retroarch menu (hotkey + X ) then go to inputs and change it to whatever suits the game. You'll be given a few options such as Kempston Joystick and Spectrum Keyboard etc. Try Kempston first then go back and see if anything works. One of the options should let you play with your controller. Good luck!

@hsus I doubt it, and why update if everything works as you would like? I haven’t updated my builds in a year or so. Too afraid some game (especially arcade) may just stop working.

There's an overview of the audio settings which should be used with the Pi's on-board sound in this sticky. It's probably related to incorrect settings - see 1., once you have the correct audio settings, the message should disappear. it might be related to 1. Is the audio played directly by your TV or is it routed to the home cinema ? Any messages logged in /dev/shm/runcommand.log ? Are you using Steamlink over WiFi or wired ? What's the resolution of your display ?

@huhogany Hi. where do i even find that line /opt/retropie....etc, etc? I am so lost and confused. Do I look for it on pc or use the pi4 gui screen? i have no idea where to find this. Is it a command line?

@thesterninator a usb flash drive should not cause power issues. And seriously start fresh. It will teach you how the whole RetroPie system works.
