Retroarch 1.6.3 & Retroarch 1.6.4 Keyboard Input Not Working

I updated to the latest setup script and since Retroarch 1.6.3 and the newest, 1.6.4, keyboard input does not work, mainly using it to add my own cheat codes that isn't on the main cheat lists for some games. It worked fine in 1.6.0 and below.
Anyone know if this is a known bug that has yet to be fixed? I know it came around 1.6.2 and & retropie removed it to 1.6.0 due to keyboard input bug in a comment on github.
Is there something I have to toggle or is the solution to downgrade to 1.6.0?

Im having controller issues after retroarch update in games there is nothing at all I ran into the problem after updating retroarch so i reinstalled from back up it worked then updated all installed packages and boom no controls again and no control with keyboard tried searching for solution but no one else with the problem

No issues with my controller. But I just use a Buffalo USB SNES controller.

I don't know if this is relevant to your issue but my keyboard stopped working in lr-fuse after upgrading Retroarch from 1.6.7 to 1.6.9.

Hey, I have run into the same issue trying to name shader presets in the RetroArch menu. RetroArch 1.7.1 wont recognize any inputs from my keyboard, if anybody has any info on this id really appreciate the help as I'm trying to get a 4.4 build up and running!
