OK, we probably need a few more details.I

I would recommend that complete the list in the https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

Then answer these questions:
How are you changing the resolution, have you changed it in the boot/config.txt settings or in the runcommand menu?
Do you get the same issues in EmulationStation?
If you exit emulationstation, does the command line look the same?

If you can start with these, then we can get an idea of where the problem may be.

I just used their shared image and then I just had to correct some viewports in the emulators menus.

First off what spec is your tv Ntsc /pal

do it have a scart port? I see a lot of people with ntsc tv not understand that scart is just a connecter the tv has to be able to receive a rgb input most ntsc tv do not accept this.... every pal tv has native RGB support. Weird thing with ntsc tvs the inbuilt menu systems use rgb you can hack that but it's not simple

Sometimes that's the easiest way...

A third-party image isn't likely to be supported here.

@simonster I was reading into the pi2scart. They apparently take the vanilla retropie setup and adjust the config.txt and some custom retroarch.cfg files for each system. Other than that, the image is for the most part pretty stock.

They have a pretty reputable team over there, they definitely aren't pulling any "motion blue" BS in the retropie image they use. I would think it's worth offering an ear because the pi2scart is a pretty neat way to get 15khz rgb output from a retropie setup, which is otherwise kind of hard to do and the more knowledge thats out there the better, IMO of course.

But either way, those are some very custom settings specific to their product, so it may be best to drop them a line or see if they have a support page on FB or a forum of their own for questions regarding their settings.

They do have a very robust documentation page here, it may be worth looking there for answers first. I'm not sure too many people on this forum have had too much experience with this device.

@simonster I'm too new to the Raspberry Pi scene so I'm uncertain how to access the runcommand menu with in the Pi. I have tried to change settings in the boot/config.txt and nothing happens. And I don't get the squeezed resolution issue in EmulationStation but I do get some Overscan problems.

Absolutely, I would agree with @Capeman. @Go-Kyo is probably going to get a much better answer regarding this issue over at their support.

@Go-Kyo is your TV NTSC or PAL? What inputs does it have? I can't think that converting RGB to YUV is particulary efficient after already going through the Pi2Scart.

Whilst I couldn't possibly comment on whether it would actually be supported.

Whilst I agree that their image is probably the easiest way to go, we don't necessarily know what they change. It would be better if there was a step by step method for taking the stock RetroPie image and setting it up to support the Pi2Scart (I don't know if there is or isn't this information out there already).

The real issue with third party images, is not just the included roms in the illegal images (which carries risks for the whole project), but the unknown modifications to configurations. If you took someone's image (such as Pi2Scart) and then updated using RetroPie-Setup, it might revert a change that had been made by the creator with good intention. Where is the end user who now has an issue going to turn to for support?

EDIT: I've just looked at their website, they have made tons of changes in their image and have additional software:

-Determines if the game being run is a console or an arcade/fba
-For arcades, it will programatically determine the resolution based on resolution.ini file.
-I got the resolution.ini (0.184) file from www.progettosnaps.net
-For consoles you can set the hdmi_timings based on emulator or system
-Dynamically creates the game_name.zip.cfg file and sets the custom_viewport_height
-Dynamically add these parameters (video_allow_rotate = “true” and video_rotation = 1) for vertical games
-vertical.txt contains all the mame 0.184 vertical games
-Ability to set custom_viewport_width for arcades/fba
-Added Amiga and C64 resolution (320×240)
-Automatically set custom_viewport_y to center vertically for arcade
-Added support for 480 height arcade games like tapper
-All console and arcade will default to 1600×240 resolution
-Disable resolution change for non libretto cores
-Added support for 448 height arcade games like popeye
-Added support for 254 height arcade games like mk3

It looks like the Pi2Scart is a high maintenance piece of kit!

@simonster They should make these changes available on there website so you could modify the stock images instead.

I wonder if these settings and tool also works on
RetroTINK-S, RetroTINK-C and RetroTINK-RGB

@simonster I have a NTSC set, With component it's the reason I'm using the YUV Transcoder all my other consoles is using Scart cables via a Scart Switch. Some how I eliminated the squeeze picture issue and ran into other problems with Retroarch not saving menu settings. And I can't get cores to run at all. I would down load them but they will not show up.
