Can't disable turbo buttons in Mednafen PCE Fast

It's been a bug that's been there since..forever. Someone in the subreddit brought it up today and it reminded me again..
I've tried the latest binary and latest source as of typing this.
The option to disable turbo for each button is there in the retroarch menu, but it doesn't do anything. I just want to verify if it's really a bug or am I missing something?
