Launch sound customisation?
-
I had an idea, that to be honest I am in no way an expert in and I'm looking for some help with.
I know that @TMNTturtlguy has included launch sounds into his comic book theme. I also know that its possible to have different sounds for each console. so for master system you could have sonic ring noise, NES Mario collecting a mushroom etc.
I know where to change this in code of a theme, however I can't seem to get round the protection, which to be honest is probably a good thing as I may end up doing more damage than good to my system.
However it made me think it could potentially be a nice option for customising your theme in the future, similar to background music... its something that a geek like me would love to tweak. I'd love to see both as options in retropie setup, although like background music, I'll happily alter things myself to get it working if anyone can help with this
My thoughts are that if there was a process for it, it would save guys like @TMNTturtlguy a little time as its all up to the user if they want to add these and if so they can choose what they want to do with it?
Appreciate any thoughts on this . Reckon I can't be the only one that would love to be able to customise this. As geeky and small a thing as it is.

I believe both the NES Mini and Carbon themes have tags for sound in their theme.xml's. Look there for code examples.

@lilbud @Jste84 the comic book theme has the launching code in it as well. All you need to do is add that line to the themes and a path to the sound file. The tricky thing is finding sound files that are compatible. If you search the ComicBook theme thread there are several posts within that give directions on how to change or remove the sounds. I think i may also have a readme file that is included in the theme download that has instructions in it.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
